The Edge of the River

While sitting alone on the river’s edge, Emily feels the penetrating warmth of the sun and a deep sense of calmness. She imagines that she is one with the river. As she takes a deep breath, she feels herself melting into her surroundings, becoming a part of nature. Emily belongs here and feels at home.

The silence surrounding her is encompassing as she realizes that just moments before, she was contemplating jumping into the dark waters. She shares too much, she must pull back to find her center.

Tomorrow she will be in the arms of her lover. She will cry as she feels their connection returning, engulfing her in unconditional love and acceptance.

Why is she so sad? She has felt this way many times before. What is the truth—her sadness, her desire for meaning, for importance, for understanding? She remains silent and alone when suddenly she realizes jumping into the dark waters represents a desire to lift another veil. There is always more.

Emily knows she can return to this magical place by the river anytime. She has learned that shifting her emotional state is a choice as easy as shifting her perception. When needed, Emily dives deeply into the dark waters of her inner feelings, leaving her fears behind. —Emily
